The Hahnemühle Sugar Cane watercolor paper is the latest addition to the Hahnemühle Natural Line. The 290 g/m² paper is made from 70% rapidly renewable sugar cane fibers, known as bagasse, a by-product of sugar production. With 70% sugar cane and 30% cotton, the natural white, warm-toned watercolor paper combines the strength of sugar cane fibers and the softness of cotton. These fibers are also plant-based waste from the textile industry.

The paper with its matte, pronounced surface structure has a beautiful velvety feel.
It can be used excellently with watercolor, gouache and all wet-on-wet techniques. Colors shine brilliantly and velvety. The natural fibers of the sugar cane give the paper a high level of stability and tear resistance, so that the paper can absorb large amounts of water and colors without the fibers standing up or the paper becoming very wavy. Colors can be easily dissolved on the surface and re-glazed.
